Sadly, I only  made it 3 days without skipping a day in the Gratitude Challenge. Not because I wasn’t grateful, but I never had time for a post. So today I’ll be thankful for 2 things. Actually, I think they will be related to each other.

I am thankful for electricity and hot water!

Though I love reading about colonial times and pioneer days, I sure am glad that I live NOW with modern conveniences. And I do appreciate some people’s desires to live more simply now, even sometimes wishing for a simpler time too, but my simpler time would still include electricity and running hot water. As it’s finally gotten cooler here in NC, I was even more thankful for my hot shower this morning. (Especially since we haven’t turned our heat on yet!)

Since I wrote a review on a book about hospitality, I think it’s only fitting that today I am thankful for my home. Although I sometimes wish we had more space, I am thankful that I don’t have more space to clean. I love the large bedrooms for the kids, especially since we only have 3 bedrooms and will soon have 5 kids! I also love the 3-1/2 baths for the same reason. Our home is cozy and a place I enjoy being.

Brenda at Garden of Learning is hosting a gratitude challenge for the month of November. I’ve participated in a similar challenge for the past couple of Novembers. I find it to be a great exercise to take the time to remember some things I’m thankful for, so I’ll do my best to post daily.

My perfectionist side wants to make sure that I put the things in order of importance, but I’m not going to do that. I’m sure I will leave out some very important things too!

Today I am thankful for my family.
