Spring Cleaning

I am joining in on the Spring Cleaning Party at SimpleMom.net. I don’t think I’ll post every day because it takes me almost as long to put the post together as it does to clean! I love having the extra accountability and encouragement that comes with doing a project like this with others.

The assignment for Day 1 was to perform a "clean sweep".

The goal is to quickly sweep through your home, throw away trash, and toss items you no longer need or want into a box for later.

I interpreted this as cleaning up my piles of stuff that had been left in various places throughout my house.

I started with my kitchen. I have a tendency to make a pile at the end of my counter. I actually had recently cleaned my pile so it wasn’t too bad.

I did have 2 bags of rice on my counter that I hadn’t put away after shopping on Saturday!

Much better!

Next I moved to my bedroom. Once again, not horrible, but I had a few things sitting on the chests that didn’t need to be there.

I had a couple of pieces of my daughter’s jewelry that needing repair that had been sitting on my chest for a couple of months. Guess how long they took to fix….5 minutes!

Now, moving on to the nightstands. My husband and I both do a lot of reading in bed and we both like to have a lot of books going at one time. The nightstands have a tendency to pile up.

I straightened up the nightstands and cleaned up my catalog pile from the floor and there is definitely some improvement. The nightstands are still too piled though.

I did finally take a look at the single largest piece of clutter in my room. It had been there for so long I was almost blind to it.

The playpen has not been used at all for a couple of months. I used it a lot before my daughter could safely go up and down the stairs by herself, but she’s 2-1/2 now!

Space, glorious space!

The final area I tackled yesterday was the playroom/computer area. Oh dear, it was piled up.

I’ve still got a lot of cleaning and organizing to do in the basement, but what little I did yesterday made me feel SO much better!

I’m looking forward to seeing what my next assignment is!

  2. Please? I could really use a complete home makeover this summer. Seriously, though, it's always great to see inspiration!
