Homeschool in the Woods New Testament Activity Pack

I first discovered lapbooking about 3 years ago. I wish I had discovered it sooner! My children have enjoyed adding lapbooking to their studies. We have completed several of our own design, in addition to several lapbooks designed by companies specializing in lapbooks. I have found that although there is some variation in the styles of mini books used and the overall appearance of the lapbook, most lapbooks are fairly similar.

At least that’s what I thought before I received the Homeschool in the Woods New Testament Activity Pack. This product is unlike any of the other lapbooks we’ve completed. Sure, there are still books to cut out, fold, and paste in the folder, but that is the end of the similarity. Unlike other lapbooks in which the student writes information in their own words in the mini books, this lapbook has no writing for the student. What is does have is beautiful artwork for the students to color, text directly from scripture, and 15 unique projects

The projects contained in this lapbook cover these topics:

  • The Lineage from David to Jesus
  • The Birth of Jesus Christ
  • Miracles of Jesus
  • The Beatitudes
  • Fruit of the Spirit
  • The Parables of Jesus
  • The Last Supper
  • The Crucifixion
  • The Resurrection
  • The Ascension
  • Pentecost
  • Prophesies Fulfilled
  • The Twelve Disciples
  • Paul’s Missionary Journeys
  • Postcards from Paul

In addition to the lapbook, the activity pack contains a poster on the Armor of God and the New Testament News scroll project. (There is student writing in the scroll.)

My 9 year old daughter absolutely LOVES this project.  She has been working on it in her free time for fun. It is definitely a completed project we will be keeping. My 6 year old son is just starting to enjoy coloring, so he has been working on it as well. He is not able to do the cutting, so I am assisting him with that. My 10 year old son, though he loves art and drawing, does not like to color. He does not like to be constrained by other people’s designs and much prefers creating his own projects, so I am allowing him to skip this project.

I do wish the lapbook were available with scripture from the King James Version. We do all our scripture memory in KJV, so it is a little confusing especially in passages like the fruit of the Spirit, which are named differently in different translations. I have had my 10 year old assistant make some modifications to our books before printing, but being able to order the files with scripture in the translation of choice would be a nice feature.

I highly recommend the New Testament Activity Pack for any child who enjoys coloring, cutting, and constructing with paper. It is available to purchase from Home School in the Woods for $18.95 for a download version or $19.95 for a CD. Now I really want to buy their timeline figures!
